Dogs Fall to Clemson

This was ugly. Georgia turned the ball over 26 times in a game it lost to Clemson 75-60. The most amazing thing in this game was that the score was not more lopsided. Clemson was only 10-22 from the charity stripe. That and some cold shooting from the outside kept Georgia in the game. Georgia actually cut the lead to 7 inside of four minutes to play in the game on a Terrance Woodbury 3 pointer. But Clemson slammed the door after that and won the game decisively. Woodbury led Georgia with 14 points. Takais Brown and Mike Mercer each added 13. Mercer just didn't have it tonight. Aside from another sweet dunk, he could not generate much offense. His patented drive to the basket for a floater just didn't fall. But in the end it was turnovers that did the Dogs in, not poor shooting. Surprisingly Sundiata Gaines and Levi Stukes were the leading offenders with six and eight turnovers respectively. Unfortunately for Georgia, the gauntlet continues with Wisconsin on New Year's Eve. Georgia is going to have to turn it around in a big way to avoid heading into conference play on a three game losing streak. And, of course, that streak could easily extend to four as Georgia opens conference play at Florida.
