I'm actually not all that disappointed. Considering that Sundiata Gaines got jacked in the face by Noah early on (no foul was called by the way), and didn't seem himself. Florida also harrassed Takais Brown all night, holding him to only 5 points. Mike Mercer was actually the bright spot for Georgia, a change from the recent games. Mike got back to playing his style of basketball...driving to the hoop rather than jacking up ill advised jump shots. He finished the game 6 of 15 from the floor with 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists. The most impressive thing to me about Florida is not their size, athleticism, or speed...it's their ability to drain open shots whenever they present themselves. These guys just don't miss.

Looking ahead, saturday's game at South Carolina is crucial if Georgia wants to go dancing. I'm calling it a must win.
Imagine if we had shot just 40% from 3-point range - we might be celebrating our biggest win in years right now.
ReplyDeleteDave, very true. But, as Coach Felton said in the post game, we weren't just missing open shots. We had to work very hard for our shots, most of which were well contested. Florida is a pretty good defensive team.
