John Isner lost to Andy Roddick in the finals of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic yesterday. Once again, I missed the match. I was in the car as I'm out on the left coast for vacation. Well, I did catch the tiebreaker in the second set. From what I saw and read, Isner held his own. He lost 6-4, 7-6 (4), which is pretty dang good considering his opponent. There is nothing to be ashamed of when you only lose your serve one time in your first final of an ATP event. There's also nothing to be ashamed about winning $43,700. Not bad for one week's work! He's also earned a wild card entry to the Western and Southern Financial Group Masters in Cincinatti in two weeks.
For more on Isner at the Legg Mason, check out DC area blogger Eric McErlain at Off Wing Opinion. He was at Legg Masson and has a ton of Isner content.
Finally, thanks to my fellow DawgRunners for keeping me up to date on Isner's matches while I'm out on the left coast. Someone really needs to get a live scoring site up for tennis that you can check on your blackberry.
