Running Blawg! Second Half UGA-UK

This is the 2nd part of the first ever Running Blawg. Be sure to read Part 1 (below) before reading this post!

2:23 Okay, back at it. 2^nd half. Let’s not give up any momentum here at the beginning.

2:26 I had a pretty serious debate with myself about whether or not to use “we” and “us.”

2:27 Sweet. They’ve gotta punt. I really cannot stress enough how important that was.

2:27 Blocked punt! That was a KElin play (get it?)! Violent block too! Now we’re in for a wave of blocks under Mark Richt graphics and stats. I wish I was at the game.

2:29 Knowshon just took on a 400 pound D-Tackle head on. He would be great on COPS.

2:30 1^st and Goal. The entire state of Georgia’s mood has changed with this start to the half.

2:31 TB with the TD! And we get the gratuitous shot of Bulldog painted head overalls guy. And he’s pointing at his head. Hey guy, that’s what we’re looking at, we all know you, we get it. You don’t have to point. Who paints that anyway? I feel like they could do one of those DVD extras type makeup montages with this guy like Gwyneth Paltrow for “Shallow Hal.” Except this guy doesn’t need the fat suit.

2:37 Curran is a future star. I mean a TOPPS card Future Star. Like 1988 Gregg Jeffries proportions. I mean, I’m not talking Donruss Rated Rookie…Okay, enough. I still look at my old baseball cards.

2:39 Cats and Woodson look like a completely different team. The momentum is firmly with the home team now.

2:50 Stafford pulls it down and scores. I love it. He’s officially a dual-threat? Maybe not. Too easy there if you’re a Kentucky fan.

2:51 How come whenever a passing QB scores a rushing TD he gets made fun of on the sidelines. I mean Richt and all the RB’s are just giving him the business! It’s like when a cleanup hitter gets the accidental check swing dribbler.

2:54 Big gain to the TE for Woodson. That’s been there all day. I’m just glad that UK isn’t clicking like they were the first half.

2:56 Ew. Bad luck for the Dawgs. Kentucky’s Kicker just did the ‘ol Shtoink job through the uprights. The Clanker! 21 – 13 Good guys.

2:58 Moreno and Brown each have 15 rushes. I don’t know how to feel about it.

3:00 Moreno delivers more licks on gameday than Uga. Zing! I mean he just killed a linebacker.

3:01 Wow! Knowshon just faked a spinmove! It worked like a pumpfake! I’m buying into the hype I think. Buy a T-shirt!

3:02 And Brown promptly fumbles while he has the ball in the wrong hand. I guess he’s trying to match all of Knowshon’s stats?

3:03 UK is slowly taking back the momentum.

3:04 Scoreboard watching, Vandy just went up 7-6 on UT! I’m a huge Commodore fan right about now.

3:05 Instead of Bulldog head guy we get Bulldog Lucha Libre wrestling mask guy.

3:06 Put your fours up! We’re heading to the fourth up 8 and it looks good. Not looking good is Peter Frampton in a Geico commercial. Has anyone ever made so much out of so little? One crappy live album where he talks through his guitar. Who cares?

3:11 Not much of a drop from Gordon Ely-Kelso-Verdun-Wheeler to Mimbs this year.

3:13 Wouldn’t it be perfect if Duke walloped Notre Dame today? I mean, is there a more fun team to watch go through this? The Yankees maybe?

3:14 Ugh. The Kentucky offense is no huddling and they’re knifing through the defense like they had Billy Humphrey. Too soon?

3:18 Marcus Howard is a beast. Bad decision by Woodson there and Kentucky goes from threatening to score a TD to 4^th and 23 in seconds. That was ugly on their part. Brutal. Good for us but ugly football!

3:20 No luck this time as it’s wide left. 10 minutes to go and UGA catches a real break from UK’s “Heisman Candidate.”

3:22 Sweet. We’ve got a stolen pickup truck on COPS and what’s the perp wearing? A #24 Auburn basketball jersey! Amazing…I’m just saying…COPS never lets me down.

3:25 Great time out by the Dawgs because I get to switch back over to COPS. This is Josh’s second time driving a stolen vehicle. Uh-oh Josh. “I got it from a guy named Tony in a black Bronco. I met him in work release.” Bad decisions Josh. I wonder if he’s related to Woodson.

3:27 Edit. Paste. Stafford almost throws his 3^rd pick.

3:28 Sean Bailey with a CLUTCH 1^st down catch. He’s straight left pedal.

3:29 Seven minutes and running…big sack by UK. Pin ‘em deep Mimbs.

3:31 He must read the Blawg. UK has to go 93 yds and then go for 2.

3:33 The Shanker! That should seal it but you never know. Weak punt by the Cats.

3:34 I could breathe out of both nostrils for about 2 minutes there. I think my immune system is gaining momentum as well.

3:40 I adore the Commodores. Up 17 – 9 at the half. I hope they stomp on the T.

3:41 Throw a flag on Stafford for tripping…Knowshon. Gross. Here comes a kick to finish ‘em off.

3:44 Asher Allen picks off Woodson and this one is over people. Total Pass Interference on Allen. Now it’s under review and part of me hopes they overturn it. Total mugging.

3:46 Okay, ruled incomplete. Fair is fair.

3:50 Ball game suckas! Andre goes down on 4^th and 5 and it’s party time in Athens. Ring the bell (gently) and cheer on the ‘Dores! 6-2 in the east…pretty solid!

Final Thoughts: I hate to overuse the word momentum but this really was what the game was all about. Woodson was cruising and then just sorta fell apart. I’m glad that they moved away from the underneath stuff because he really could have stood back there and picked us apart. Slow start by the Dawgs and probably a few too many shots downfield early. I’m glad for the win obviously and you can chalk this one up to the old adage that “good teams find a way to win these type of games.” Go Vandy!
