I am amazed by this. The NBA has granted the protest of a game by the Miami Heat against the Atlanta Hawks.
In the game, Shaq "fouled out" with 51.9 seconds remaining in overtime. The problem was he only have five fouls, as opposed to six. So now, the two teams are going to replay the final 51.9 seconds of the game.
I'm all for getting things right, but this is just crazy. Can you imagine if something like this ever happened in football? Maybe these blunders could have been erased.
Colorado gets five downs
Jasper Sanks doesn't fumble
Biggest waste of time ever! If this was the Shaq with the LA Lakers then maybe 51.9 seconds would actually mean something. He is to old to make a big impact in a game like this...
ReplyDeleteBesides, Atlanta is actually doing half way decent this year...
sUGAr bowl video?
I wish that UGA clip showed more of the replay. Not only did the refs blow the fumble call, if you watch the Tech player that recovers the "fumble" runs back into the endzone untouched and goes out of bounds. SO...even if they wanted to call it a fumble it should have been ruled a SAFETY! Two points for UGA and Tech is kicking to the Dogs. The Dogs got double screwed on that play.
ReplyDeleteKris - The highlights are in progress.
ReplyDeleteAnon - I've heard that a ton, but it would have never happened that way. I think one of the refs blew the play dead because he, correctly, believed Sanks was down. When it was ruled a fumble, that became an inadverdant whistle. Strange things happen when Al Ford is involved. It still scares me when he is in the replay booth.
