It seems like The Blawg's favorite NBA player has really been struggling lately. In an ESPN game Friday night Hayes picked up 3 fouls in 3 minutes and looked confused and rushed on offense. Watching the game I couldn't believe that this was the same player that really played nice on the ball and help defense at Georgia. Maybe we schemed to cover up for him or maybe injuries have really taken their toll but teams are attacking Jarvis whenever he is in the game. The
Detroit Free Press even said that he is in danger of losing his spot in the rotation.
Coach Flip Saunders has hinted that Hayes can get his minutes back by clamping down on defense. But that's not Hayes' forte, and the Pistons have begun plugging in Arron Afflalo at small forward for defensive intensity.
But Hayes isn't out of the rotation for good.
"He's going to get opportunities," Saunders said.
Let's hope that Jarvis starts playing like we know he can. It would be really fun to watch him contribute in a deep playoff run on a very good Detroit team. Thus far he is averaging
6.5 pts/game.
