UGA a Composite #4 in Preseason Polls

Well well well, it's time for The Deaner to look at the most inane thing in college sports, the Preseason Polls. Personally, I love the idea of not even having a poll until 3 games into the season, but then how would they sell magazines? Of course, it also makes things like the App State upset of Michigan a better story as the Wolverines' inflated ranking early in the year set them up for a far bigger fall than if there were none.

There is one major question to ask when picking teams in the preseason: Do you rank on talent or where you think they will be at the end? And this, loyal readers, is why UGA has such a wide range of rankings. Check out this comparison chart. From what I have been able to gather Lindy's ranks on who they think is the best team while I heard an interview with Phil Steele claiming that the Dawgs have the most talent but he thinks they will be shanghai'd by their tough schedule. So what have we learned from looking at Preseason rankings? Nothing we didn't already know! The Dawgs have tons of talent and a hard schedule. Now go buy an $8 magazine!
