Milner fell out of favor with the new coaching staff after injuring his leg and ankle and missing most of training camp.So it sounds like the coaches want a big blocker, which Martrez is not. The injury comment makes it sound like the coaches think he's soft.
In the new offensive system under offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey, tight ends are required to block a lot.
Milner, a fourth-round draft pick (133rd overall) in 2007, was selected as a pass-catching tight end to fit former coach Bobby Petrino’s system.
Personally, I think it's Falcons tight ends coach Chris Scelfo still trying to get back at Georgia for firing Jim Donnan. Ok, not really.
Hate to reaad that. At least they picked up Rader though. Weird how when the Falcons cut a UGA player, they replace him with a UGA player. Wonder if they're finally getting how important it is not to piss off UGA fans, who largely support the Falcons?
ReplyDeleteI was surprised that Olandis Gary didn't get a call when Thomas Brown went down. Patrick Pass?
