What Would Larry Do?
I think I had more fun making this video last year than any I ever made. Again, Munson won't be calling the Georgia - Alabama game this year, but we can all imagine what it would sound like if he did.

Munson Retires
Even though I can, I really can't believe it. This Saturday will be the first time I ever put my headset on between the hedges and hear a voice other than Larry's calling the game. It will be weird to say the least.
However, I believe this may be for the best. During the first two games, Larry's voice just didn't sound right over the airwaves. He sounded tired and worn down when the 4th quarter started. Can you blame him? The man turns 86 this weekend. The number one concern has to be Larry's health. Not him creating more memories for others. Not others worrying about if he can still get the job done. What matters at this point is that Larry takes care of himself.
I've got some more I'll share about Larry as the week goes on, including the one personal experience I had with the man. For now I'll just say that Saturday won't be quite the smae without him.

What Would Larry Do?
While I think most people enjoyed Scott Howard's call of Stafford's game winning touchdown pass to Mikey Henderson against Alabama, there were more than a few folks that couldn't help but wonder what it would have sounded like were Larry Munson in the booth. My guess is it would have sounded something like this...
For those that can't get enough of Howard's call, and I put myself in that boat, check out this free video on GeorgiaDogs.com.

No Munson This Weekend
All kinds of articles are starting to pop up about the Alabama game being the first without Larry Munson. People are trying to gauge the significance and if Dawg fans will still listen to the radio broadcast without Munson. Personally, I would like to because I want to see what Scott Howard and Eric Zeier sound like together. Unfortunately, it just doesn't work out with the setup I have. I have DirecTV, which seems to have an even longer delay in programming than cable. So if I listen to the radio broadcast while watching the TV simultaneously, I could hear "Touchdown!" before the ball is even snapped. This obviously presents a problem.
I guess I need a DRR (Digital Radio Recorder) so that I can pause the radio and let the TV catch up. Is DRR even a term? Oddly enough, I just found one while I've been writing this. You think it's worth $49.99 to get one to be able to listen to football games on the radio while watching TV?
So anyway, I don't think this is going to affect me at all (unless I get a DRR). I bring my headset with me to home games and listen to Munson at the stadium. Until Larry stops doing home games, I'll probably only hear the highlights of "Howard's Greatest Calls." That just doesn't sound right yet...
