Here's how Barnhart sees the league shaking out...
East | West | |
1 | Florida | LSU |
2 | Georgia | Arkansas |
3 | Tennessee | Auburn |
4 | South Carolina | Alabama |
5 | Kentucky | Ole Miss |
6 | Vanderbilt | Mississippi State |
I suppose that looks about right. I could see any of his top three in the East winning the division. I also won't be surprised if Kentucky finishes higher than 5th. In the West, I might flip flop Arkansas and Auburn.
On Georgia specifically, one thing Barhart said jumped out at me.
Knowshon Moreno is the running back to beat for playing time. While I think and hope that Knowshon will do great things, I think its premature to say he'll be the one to beat for playing time this season. I feel that will continue to be Kregg Lumpkin.
Tony, like many CFB pundits, has shown that he knows little more than the astute fan (perhaps less) during the off-season. Guys like him add considerable value during the season but little otherwise. Picking UF to win the east despite breaking in a new fullback/quaterback and replacing 9 of 11 defensive starters demonstrates how obtuse these "experts" are. Thinking that Lumpkin is the second-best back in our backfield further proves my point.
