I got a Mac for my birthday, so I'm starting to play around with some video stuff to see what it can do. This is not recent or relevant, but I figured I may as well post the stuff that I mess around with.

Schad says Reshad and Rennie are gone
Joe Schad just tweeted that Reshad Jones told him he's leaving for the NFL. He also says Rennie Curran is expected to do the same...whatever that means. While Schad was a little premature with the Willie Martinez firing story, he was eventually proven to be right. We'll see what happens here.

Let Freedom Ring

We're officially going to the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, LA. I know a lot of people are disappointed by this, but Texas A&M could be a nightmare match up for us. Their offense does what we don't defend well. Jerrod Johnson has been a beast all year running and throwing (8 rushing touchdowns and 28 passing). With almost the whole defensive staff gone for the game, we've got our work cut out for us.
The Last Series
Here's some more footage from last week's game against Georgia Tech: Tech's last four downs on offense.

Tech-nical Difficulties
I put together a few videos after the victory at the Joke by the Coke last weekend. I've been having some problems with YouTube, but I finally got around them. So, here's the first...every score from the game.

The Uniforms

While this opens the door for the criticism, the resulting criticism is generally lame. The most annoying thing I keep hearing is that the staff should have spent more time game planning and less time wardrobe planning. I suppose these people think the coaches spent the bye week in endless meetings debating whether or not to wear black helmets and pants. Give me a break! Richt said they had the helmets last year. My guess is it was Richt's decision and not much discussion was held on the matter.
The other annoying thing I hear is that Georgia is above this...Alabama, USC, and so on don't do things like this. Well, I've got some news for you if you think that way. We aren't above anything right now.
What you have to remember is these are kids playing in those uniforms. They think it's cool. Whether it gives them extra motivation or not, it's something that is fun to do for them. I thought it was cool myself.
The only complaint I have is along the lines of part of what PWD said. I'll quote him.
I think special uniforms should be worn by special teams. You beat the Gators, you can have a blackout against Auburn. You get a Sugar Bowl birth, you can have a blackout against Hawaii. You come into the Bama game undefeated with ESPN Gameday in attendance, then sure...a blackout is fine. Now that I can agree with. The alternate uniforms should be a reward.
But 4-3 teams shouldn't get special treatment. They should just work harder. And by team, I mean coaches and players.

What a Nightmare
If you want to relive the misery, I uploaded all of the scores from the game.
The crazy thing about watching that is it was a 5 point game with a little over 4 minutes to go in the 3rd. That run by Hardesty just broke our backs. The rout was on at that point.
I really want to be positive and say that the 2007 team got blown out by Tennessee for their second conference loss of the season and bounced back in a big way. I want to say that team only looked better because they had an easier non-conference schedule. They didn't open with Oklahoma State. Oh wait. Nevermind.

Accolades for Cox
Joe Cox is the Walter Camp Football Foundation National Offensive Player of the Week. Here's the official release. Congrats Joe! You deserve it!
Wooten The Ball Carrier
Rantavious Wooten saw his first extensive action last night, and he also had his first carry. Here's the play.
Now, you know you wished it sounded more like this.
If you have no idea what that was, you've clearly never seen Wooten's high school highlight reel. Here you go.

Five Teeders!
Good grief! Can you believe people wanted this guy benched a week ago?!?! Five TD's! Enjoy!

Litter Bugs
I thought about this before the game. I meant to walk through North campus on the way back to my tailgate after the game to get a look at the damage, but I completely forgot. In case you didn't walk through there either, here's what it looked like.
If you are in any way responsible for this, you should be ashamed of yourself. We've been told not to do crap like this since we were kids. BRING TRASH BAGS!

For All The Joe Cox Haters
I started wondering how Joe Cox's performance on Saturday night stacked up against Stafford. When I looked it up, I actually wasn't surprised. So then I went a little further. Here are the stats for the QB with the most attempts against the Cocks since the Quincy 5 INT debacle (I saw no reason to include that game).
As you can see, Joe stacks up quite admirably. In fact, he had the best completion percentage (70.83%) by far (2nd was 63.64% by Greene in 2001).
So everyone just take a deep breath and then get behind this guy!
Year | QB | Comp | Att | Yards | TD | INT |
2001 | David Greene | 21 | 33 | 169 | 0 | 1 |
2002 | David Greene | 11 | 19 | 169 | 0 | 0 |
2003 | David Greene | 16 | 27 | 208 | 2 | 0 |
2004 | David Greene | 19 | 38 | 213 | 2 | 1 |
2005 | DJ Shockley | 8 | 17 | 112 | 0 | 2 |
2006 | Matthew Stafford | 8 | 19 | 171 | 0 | 3 |
2007 | Matthew Stafford | 19 | 44 | 213 | 0 | 1 |
2008 | Matthew Stafford | 15 | 25 | 146 | 0 | 0 |
2009 | Joe Cox | 17 | 24 | 201 | 2 | 1 |

Let's Be Positive
Let's all pretend last weekend's game ended after Bryan Evans leveled Dez Bryant. That should make us feel a little better heading into Saturday's game against South Carolina.

Highlights/Lowlights...Whatever
I put together a quick video of every score from the game. I didn't feel the need to put a loss to music. At this point I usually say enjoy, but I doubt you will...unless you're a Tech fan. If that's the case, look at yourself. You are such a nerd.
Martinez Isn't Going Anywhere
Richt confirmed what I already believed today.
With some of his assistants, particularly defensive coordinator Willie Martinez, coming under fire from fans, Georgia coach Mark Richt declared Sunday that he expects no changes on his staff for next season. But he did say the entire program will be evaluated.
“I really don’t,” Richt said. “I really don’t.”
“We’re going to start at the top and go to the bottom, or vice versa,” he said. “Everything we do, we’re going to critique it and be willing to do whatever it takes to get better. At least it sounds like the kickoff situation is on the top of Richt's to do list.
“There are so many areas you could improve, and it’s really not a whole lot different than [after] any other season. … But it might be with even a finer tooth comb than in years past. We just have to be real open and honest in our evaluations of ourselves.”
We might have to go to Poland or something and find a guy who can kick it out of the end zone. And give him two scholarships.

I Didn't See That Coming
I thought Tech would give us a good game. I thought they'd run the ball well against us. But I was not at all expecting what I saw in Sanford Stadium today. Maybe I should have seen it coming though.
Poor tackling. Poor angles. Drive killing penalties. Horrible kickoffs, kickoff coverage, and kick returns.
The writing has been on the wall all year long. It was just a lot easier to read today.
The thing that hurts the most is to see Massaquoi lose his last game to Tech with the way he played. Maybe we should have put him out there on defense.

AJC Says Dawgs Going Down
Nearly every AJC columnist says the Jackets will win tomorrow. The common theme? Tech wants it more.
Do they really? I know these Tech seniors don't want to graduate having never defeated Georgia. But, Georgia's seniors don't want to be the ones to lose for the first time in eight years.
No predictions here, but it takes more than wanting it to win a game. Bring it Nerds.

Dawg Walk
I've heard some confusion as to when the Dawg Walk is tomorrow. Per Mark Richt's Blog, it's at 10am. Be there to support your Dawgs!
