Restrictions Imposed On Season Tickets For Students

If they put this into effect when I was in school, I would have been seriously pissed.
Under a new policy approved Thursday by the school's athletic association, all UGA students who want a crack at the discounted tickets must be enrolled for a minimum of 12 hours in the fall semester. The intent: that fewer seniors will return to school for a fifth year (and sometimes beyond) and register for a small number of class hours — just to be able to snag tickets in a priority system that favors upperclassmen and sometimes shuts out freshmen.
I see what they are trying to do, but sometimes there are extenuating circumstances. Myself, for instance. My stupid advisor told me I couldn't enter my major courses when I really could have. That meant I entered a program that took three semesters to complete the fall of my senior year, rather than the spring of my junior year. Thus, I had to go for one more semester the next fall (the courses I needed were not offered in the summer). I ended up only taking six hours that last fall semester of 2002. Yes, that was the SEC championship run, and I attended every single game. Home. Away. Jacksonville. SEC Championship. Sugar Bowl. I was there. If I was ineligible for student tickets, I would have flipped.

So what do you think? Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Personally, I'd rather keep nerdy types that sell their tickets on ebay from being eligible rather than shutting out people with light schedules that actually go to the games. If it were up to me, you'd have to take a test to be eligible for student tickets. But I digress...
