About Thomas Brown Being Number 1

Not so fast my friend. My understanding is everyone is thinking this because of the following quote from running backs coach Tony Ball that can be found here.
"If we had to play (today) and the game was on the line and we had to throw the ball and knowing what that defense is doing, I would put Thomas in the game because he understands," Ball said. "He's got the experience. He understands the defensive schemes and he understands protection."
The if we had to play today part is what makes me back off of this. I remember one off week in 2001 when Coach Richt said that if there was a game that week Kenny Bailey would be the starter. Right...I'm taking this with a grain of salt. Wait til we get a little closer.

  1. That comment could be rewritten: "If I had to pick a RB to protect our QB in a passing situation, I'd pick Thomas Brown." That is a long way from saying he is going to start. Personally, I would be stunned if Kregg Lumpkin isn't our starting back against the Cowpokes.
