NFL Cut News

Tony Taylor and Martrez Milner made the Falcons. They are both on the depth chart. Even more impressive is that Taylor is still listed as the second team middle linebacker.

Rookie Dawgs to get cut across the NFL were:
Ken Shackleford - Rams
Tra Battle - Chargers
Danny Ware - Jets
Danny Verdun Wheeler - Bears

Those above weren't all that surprising considering none of them were drafted. Although, I was pretty sure Ware would make the Jets. He looked good in the preseason from what I saw.

From the land of what in the world is going on, the Raiders cut Quentin Moses. This really, really surprised me. Teams don't usually cut third round picks (except Fred Gibson, dangit!) Add to that the fact that Moses started in the first preseason game according to David Ching.

Other Dawgs of note to get cut were:
Bruce Thornton - Jaguars
Demario Minter - Browns
Nic Clemons - Falcons

I'm surprised by Minter. He had so much buzz coming out of college. He should get picked up though. He'll just take his Minterceptions (credit the Deaner on that one) elsewhere.

Thanks to jaxdawg_95 for posting the cut list on the DawgRun.

  1. The Ware cut really surprises me. I believe the last I read he had wrapped up the #3 running back job behind Thomas Jones and Leon Washington. He had the 4th best pre-season of all backs and I expected he would make the squad.

You have to wonder now if Danny looks back and wonders if he made a mistake by leaving a year early.

  2. *UPDATE*

Ware has been signed to the Jets Practice squad, Q Moses is on the Cardinals, and the Falcons have cut Snelling in favor of former Kentucky Wildcat Artose Pinner.
