What a Day

I woke up Saturday like a kid on Christmas morning. I couldn't wait to see what the day had in store for me. The day couldn't have turned out any better. We put our daughter in her new gameday outfit. We watched some 2006 highlights on DVD. The Deaner came to pick me up, and we headed over to Athens with the windows down.

On the way to Athens, we heard on the radio Michigan was losing to Appalachian State. Amazing!

We get to Athens, help finish getting the tailgate set up, including aligning the satellite dish. We flipped back and forth between games for a while. Finally, we realized Isner's match should be on. It wasn't on CBS, they were showing Donald Young instead. So we started looking in the 600 channels on DirecTV. No luck on Isner, but what the heck? We have the Michigan game!

We watched Appalachian State kick the go ahead field goal, and make the game saving field goal block. Our tailgate absolutely errupted. This included the Deaner, who was on the phone with his dad, an Appalachian State grad. What a day.

Soon after, we saw John Isner take the first set from Roger Federer in a tie break. His serve came up even bigger in the tiebreak. What a rush! (Now let's skip the next three sets and Federer's absolute domination. I prefer to remember that glorious first set.)

We packed up the tailgate and headed to the game. I was not expecting the game to go so well. 21-14 at the half, that was about what I was thinking. But a final of 35-14? I wasn't expecting a 21 point win.

No turnovers for Georgia. No offensive line breakdowns. Only one dropped pass. Things went just about as well as they could have. What a day!
