I Think We'll See Black Jerseys

All week I thought no way. I remembered the last home game with Dooley as athletic director. The fans were asked to wear black, and a good number did. The cheerleaders and Uga even wore black. The team? Nah.

All week I figured this would be the same, but now I think otherwise. Richt has been almost too careful with his answers. Never saying yes or no. Then today we get this from the AJC's Chip Towers:
OK, I just got through talking to Georgia coach Mark Richt not five minutes ago and I asked him directly: What color jersey is your team going to wear Saturday against Auburn?

This was his answer:

“You’re going to have to refer to any answer I’ve given to this point,” he said. “That’s my comment. I’m tired of the question.”
Translated..."Chip, stop trying to ruin the surprise."

Now what I would love to see is silver britches, black jerseys, and black helmets with a red G. That would be cool.

FYI - I got this pic from the Georgia Sports Blog. All I did was make the helmet black.

  1. The only thing I don't want to tinker with is the helmet.

Would love to see Red Pants in Jax or Knoxville though

  2. I agree with Paul, don't "f" the helmet...plus we'll look like Grambling and I don't think they intimidate anybody

  3. Georgia should be above screwing with their uniform that is a cheap trick done by schools with no history or tradition (Oklahoma, Nebraska, Alabama, Texas, Penn
State, etc. they don't mess with their uniforms and neither should the DAWGS, we should leave such trickeration to the lower tier schools in the pit of desparation. Just my opinion. ND does wear the green jerseys sometimes but they've been doing that forever and usually get creamed in them, which makes it all the more funny.

  4. Initially I didn't like the way the red helmet looked with the black jersey. But now that I've seen more photoshopped pics, it's growing me.

And Anonymous - I disagree. Traditions start somewhere. I wouldn't mind if we occasionaly pulled out black jerseys for a big game. It's not like we're going to start changing our jerseys every year a la Oregon. I think Richt has earned the right to start a tradition.

  5. Well, I'll be pulling for the dawgs just as hard no matter what color they wear, i don't like the black jersey idea, but differing opinions is what makes life interesting
