When asked about this, many close to Walker were just as surprised as most Dawg fans to hear the news. From the AJC article...
"I'm probably one of his closest friends and that's news to me," said Frank Ros, a Coca-Cola executive who played linebacker and was captain of Georgia's 1980 national championship team. "I knew he was working on a book but I just thought it was about football. He does 100 things at once and always has projects going on but that blows me away."
Said his former coach, Vince Dooley: "That's all news to me. All I know is whatever personality he had when he had the football was the one I liked."It looks like you can pre order the book from Amazaon*, but there are no details about the book on the site.
I really don't know what to think or say about this. I definitely want to know the story and will probably buy the book. I'm really at a loss for words on the topic.
* In case you are wondering, I have no affiliation with Amazon.

ReplyDeleteHis dad knows nothing about it. His closest friends, coaches, & confidants know nothing about it. And the contributing "Psychiatrist" has a questionable history/record. To top it all off...Hershel's not talking. I'm thinking this is much ado about nothing. The AJC broke the story, so that immediately has me suspicious - not an ounce of journalistic integrity exists with that rag anymore.
ReplyDeleteSomething's definitely rotten in Denmark. Herschel could write a book about how to hang wall paper & it would sell out. I don't get why they would hype this with a story that could potentially harm his legacy. Jokes are already being made about this, which sickens me to no end. I wish he would talk about the rumors and clear things up before the talk gets out of hand.
Either way, bottom line, he is still the most amazing football player EVER to play the game. More importantly, he is a good man to the core and means the world to Bulldawg Nation & college football fans alike.
