Details are starting to surface on the whole ordeal. It looks like Charles had nothing to do with the fights, and was then attacked outside of the club. Captain Will Caudill of the Early County Sheriff's Office had this to say:
It carried over outside, and that's where we believe Mr. Grant was assaulted. It took place on the street. He's clearly the victim of an assault, but we can't comment beyond that. It was a melee; there were several different fights. As for Korynda Reed, the pregnant woman who was shot and killed, I've heard several people asking what a pregnant woman was doing at a club. It sounds like she may not have been at the club. Again, from Captain Caudill:
It appears that Ms. Reed was just a bystander who was struck by gunfire, and Mr. Grant was a victim of assault. We don't know if she was ever in the club. One final piece from this article I want to point out that a lot of people will probably roll their eyes at. Ed Tolley, Charles Grant's attorney, was quoted as saying the following:
There were a couple of young men in there fighting, but Charles was not part of the fight. He's a big guy. He kind of stands out in a crowd. This wasn't one of those deals where Charles went in and started a fight. He wasn't even drinking. I think that's important for people to know.I just wanted to say that I actually believe him when he says Grant wasn't drinking. It was several years ago, but Charles Grant and Richard Seymour both showed up at a party I was at in college. I offered them both drinks, and they both declined. Now granted, they were probably both under 21 and trying to stay out of trouble, but hey...so was I.
so what is his physical status?
ReplyDeleteHe was treated and released, so it sounds like he is ok.
