Yata, Yata, Yata

Sundiata Gaines was named SEC Player of the Week today for his performances against South Carolina and Tennessee. Yata has been the man since Billy Humphrey got suspended. The AJC writeup points out how Zac Swansey's play has allowed Yata to explode offensively. Swansey has been playing so well at the point, that Yata has been able to play more of a 2 guard role. That was supposed to happen three years ago when Mike Mercer arrived on campus. But, let's just say Mike didn't have the pass first mentality. Congrats to Yata. He earned this.

  1. On TV now - 1999 Kentucky at UGA. Makes me sick watching it and realizing Jumaine Jones could have stayed in school. He was fun to watch, even if he was a little out of control.

  2. Sonofa. I meant to record that. Not sure why I want to relive the agony though. I was at that game. As I recall, we had the ball last in regulation, but Jumaine missed the shot.

He was so awesome. To this day, I'm convinced he went to the NBA because Harrick called him "Jermaine."

  3. My freshman year was '99, so that was a season before I got there. I can't tell you how it ended...but I can tell you who won.
