No More Soulja Boy: Do You Care?

In Marc Weiszer's Sunday blog entry, he tells us that we should not expect to hear Soulja Boy blaring from the sound system at Sanford in the fall.
“I’ll just say this, we want to make sure that we play songs that are appropriate songs to be played at our games,” Georgia athletic director Damon Evans told me [Weiszer]. “I don’t want to turn into a music police, but at the same time I don’t want to play music that could be considered degrading to some and disrespectful to some.”
To be honest, I really don't care. The song may be offensive to some, but I'm not worried about that. I'm pretty sure they played the instrumental without the lyrics, but that's not the point.

The point is this...Playing Soulja Boy in 2008 would be like listening to the Macarena, Kriss Kross, or Who Let the Dogs Out a year late. That song was for last year's team. It's 2008. We don't need any more Soulja Boy.

  2. True. Let's leave Soulja Boy in the past as well as the "Do you Knowshon" T-shirts. I think all our opponents Knowshon.

  3. Soulja Boy dying out is fine, but I hope they play something that keeps them as happy, lose & having fun like last season.

I could care less what they play or whether our fans like it or not. Its not for the fans anyways - its for the players. And whatever keeps our players happy, motivated, and having fun is a good thing, imo.
