It's Official: Owens Out For Season

As expected, it was announced today that Jeff Owens sustained a torn ACL and is out for the year. He did play as a true freshman, so he can redshirt this year.

Get well soon Jeff. We'll see you next year.

  1. thats a big loss, especially now that Kade is having problems worse than was thought, hopefully BWood and gang can step it up, I think Irvin and Geno will be good but definitely not the dominate force we are used to

p.s. just found this blog not too long ago, want to say job well done

  2. GSB summed up my thoughts exactly. This loss is huge, because he got down and dirty and performed a lot of the not-so-glamorous work every snap. He was a team leader, and I can remember who wrote the piece (may be Chip Towers) a couple weeks back about Geno and Jeff, but Geno said Jeff constantly gave him advice on the field and I am sure he passed this knowledge around to everyone. This is one of the worst things that could happen without losing #7 or #24. I think this really hurts our chances at a MNC, because the middle of the d-line just took a step in the wrong direction. I will say that mid Januaury though I will be looking at the situation with a lot more optimism.
