Whirlwind Weekend

What started off with great news on Friday took a bad turn with some more off field issues. First, let's talk about being ranked pre season number one in the coaches poll. I'll speak to the arrests in a separate post.

All summer long, I've thought to myself that I didn't want Georgia to start off number one. That would be too much pressure, and rarely does a team go wire to wire number one. But, the second I heard I was very excited about it. This is the first time Georgia has been ranked number one since the goal line stalker himself was in Athens.

People like John Kincade are ripping Georgia fans right now for being excited, but what's not to be excited about? To say pre season rankings are meaningless is ignorant. I agree they shouldn't mean anything, but unfortunately they do. Starting off number one gives us some breathing room. We can lose once and climb back up, so long as the one loss isn't in the SEC Championship.

Making me love the number one ranking even more is PWD's theory about losing the ranking without losing a game. There's something to be said about a team that feels disrespected (as seen here). That could be the event to motivate our guys for the rest of the season.

So, I'm not going to worry about being the hunted like I thought I would. I'm going to embrace it. And while the goal is to finish number one, starting there is a good start.

  1. We'll see if any players can remain on the roster in light of all these off-the-field altercations. ha!

  2. Kincade's a douche, I've never been a huge fan of Buck & Kincade but Buck Beleu has always been a hero. I just wish Buck would give up the "nation-wide appeal" style of broadcast and go homer all the way. Then I might be more interested.
