I Heart Corvey

While watching the Mark Richt Show on Sunday, one segment stood out to me. In that segment, Dannell Ellerbee talked about wearing the number 44 jersey to honor Marcus Washington who had a season ending injury. He talked about other players doing it in the past when a teammate went down, and that he was just carrying on that tradition.

At that moment I turned to my dad and said, "I guarantee you someone wears number 95 this week."

Corvey Irvin is that someone. He even tried to take it further.

Irvin originally proposed that all the defensive linemen get a chance to wear Owens’ number 95. His thinking was that they would rotate the number between them, with a different player wearing it each week.

Logistically that wouldn't work out, but it was a great thought. Corvey just took a big step toward being the leader of this defense.
