This was not Georgia Basketball. Not this team at least. This was how Georgia has had to play the last few years. Without a formidable inside presence, Georgia has had to rely on their guard play to win the last two years. The guards need to learn how to play with a true player inside. Takais is a beast inside, and he needs to be fed. Inexplicably, Georgia missed three point shot after three point shot rather than trying to work the ball inside. In the first half, Takais Brown was 4 of 6 from the field with 8 points. He finished the game 4 of 8 with 12 points. What? That makes no sense. Only two attempts, both misses, in the second half. His four second half points came off free throws.
Let's look at a quote from Mike Mercer
earlier in the week on the LSU game.
We definitely got away with one. We caught fire in the second half, and that's not something you can depend on night in and night out. We can't go into every game thinking we're going to hit every 3 we put up. We need to work it inside-out to (Takais Brown).
Georgia's players have talked about needing to work the ball inside, now they just need to believe in and act on what they are saying.
John Kaltefleiter said it best in today's
Athens Banner Herald.
Georgia might need to enter rehab for its addiction to the 3-point shot.
Seriously.
